Who says that video editing is easy? In editing a video, you will have to deal with at least four windows simultaneously - and you will have to keep your focus. Let's just say that because you have four windows, you have to devote four times as much willpower in making a movie compared to modifying graphics.

While all of these four windows portray essential functions in any video editing software, the level of expertise required to maneuver these depend on individual software. Some software (especially free software, downloadable from the Web) are heavily template-based, so to create a decent full-length video, what is required is to simply follow the default settings (which can also be changed). These software are fit for starters who are yet to know about the intricacies of editing videos and who need the guidance of ready-made features so that they will not become unnecessarily confused. Once they have mastered making simple videos and want to proceed to the more sophisticated ones, they could begin looking for software that contains more detailed features - one which allows the user to take control on every segment and sub-segment of the video as desirable. How easy editing videos is for one person depends, therefore, on the software used and the ability of the person to handle the software.

The art of video editing should be made accessible to everyone, especially in a world increasingly being covered by audio-visual media. Video clips are now superseding written presentations and are also gaining leverage over print matter because they can reveal more information in a shorter time and they could also render information that are harder to mobilize using a written medium.
