Threading your home sewing machine may be the trickiest part of your entire sewing project. Whether you are planning to sew a blanket for the new grandbaby, or some mittens for your daughter, you must be able to thread the machine properly for a successful, completed project. Once you get the process figured out, it becomes very easy to thread your home sewing machine over and over again. Follow this guide to assist you with the easiest way to thread your home sewing machine.
First, you will need to turn the handwheel towards you in order to lift the needle up as far as it will go. Next, the presser foot needs to be raised as well. By doing this step, you can stop your needle from accidentally becoming unstitched when you are trying to complete your project. Next, you need to locate your spool spin at the top of your home sewing machine, and place a spool of thread on it. For spool spins that run horizontally, be certain that you use the cap to avoid the thread from coming off of the machine.
Now that you have everything in place, you need to take the thread and place it in the required threading points. Be sure to start at the top, and then move down towards the tension assembly. You can find the tension assembly on the left side of your home sewing machine. This tension is responsible for controlling the thread flow of your machine. Now, pull the thread under the tension assembly, and then back to the top of the home sewing machine to the next threading point, which can be found on the top left of the home sewing machine. There are two tension discs that the thread will pass through, and possibly a hook that may be located on the left side of the tension dial.
Next step is to push the thread end through the lever. Go through all the threading points, including those above the needle and on the bottom left of your home sewing machine. Now, thread the needle; begin with the front and move to the back. You will want to be certain to pull at least a few inches of thread through the needle's eye, and pull it to the left.
Now, take a bobbin that is wound and insert it into place on your home sewing machine. If applicable, be certain that you close the throat plate. Make sure that you pull out some of the thread from the bobbin and let it hang out under the throat plate. You will need to pull the bobbin thread to the right for best results. Now, grab the thread that has been placed in the needle and move the handwheel until you are unable to see the needle anymore. Be sure to keep a hold of the thread while doing this process. Next, using the wheel, pull the needle back up to its highest point. You should notice a loop, which is the bobbin thread. Pull the thread of the needle to your left to allow the bobbin thread to come up further. Now, carefully pull both threads beneath the presser foot, as well as to the right and the back of the machine. Now you are ready to begin your sewing project on your home sewing machine.
