How to Install a Bamboo Countertop in 9 Easy Steps

Bathroom countertop replacement can add a whole new appearance to your bathroom. Many people choose granite, marble, or tile bathroom countertops. However, if you are looking for something more unique, have you considered a bamboo countertop for your bathroom remodeling project? Bamboo is relatively cheap and easy to install. The following steps will help you install your new bamboo bathroom countertop with ease.

First thing you will need to do is to gather the appropriate materials. You will need the following to complete your project:
- Tape
- Wood Glue
- Bamboo Sheet
- Caulk
- Epoxy Topcoat
- Brad Nail

Now you will need to get your needed tools together as well. The tools you will need include:
- Rotary Saw
- Pencil
- Cloth
- Paint Brush
- Drill
- Miter Saw
- Table Saw
- Orbital Sander
- Gloves
- Ear Plugs
- Safety Glasses

Now that you have the required tools and materials, you are ready to begin your project.

Step 1: First of all, you need to measure the bathroom countertop that you are going to replace. You should then cut your bamboo sheet to the same dimensions. Remember to cut an additional strip for the three outside edges of your countertop.

Step 2: Now you need to apply glue to the bottom of the strips you have cut for the edges. Place them securely around the edges to add height to your countertop.

Step 3: Now using your nail gun, place two nails approximately six-inches apart around the edges of the strips to secure them into place. Be sure to nail from the bottom of the board, not the top.

Step 4: Using your orbital sander, completely sand the entire countertop. Afterwards, be sure to wipe all of the dust away with your cloth.

Step 5: Apply your epoxy topcoat and allow it to dry. Once this step is completed, sand the countertop lightly, and then apply another layer of epoxy. Repeat this process again for a total of 3 layers of epoxy coat on your countertop.

Step 6: Place tape on top of the area that needs to be cut. By completing this step, you will ensure that your countertop will not get scratched or scuffed.

Step 7: Using a pencil, draw on the tape, the line that you are going to cut for the sink and faucets. Then, drill out the faucet holes, and cut out the sink hole using your rotary saw.

Step 8: On the edge of the vanity, where the countertop will rest, apply caulk. Be sure not to apply too much, a small bead of caulk is sufficient.

Step 9: Lay the countertop on top of the caulked vanity. Be certain that it is centered and firmly pressed down.

To save some additional money, use the extra pieces of bamboo and apply those around the mirror frame and shelves. By following the above steps you will have a luxurious new bathroom countertop.
