Going to an auction can be a great place to snag a bargain, but auctions really do offer a lot more. Whether it's a in-house or online sale there's a lot of fun and excitement to be had.

Going to an auction is also more than just choice and bargain hunting, it's also about the excitement. Whilst it can be fun sometimes bargaining with the store attendant at your local retailer, it doesn't match the excitement of the bidding competition. When your going after something you really want, in a battle against other potential buyers and the auctioneer is wielding his words and hammer, it can really get the heart pumping.

Snagging a great deal at auction is really all about having the know how and being in the right place at the right time. Having the smarts and being aware of the retail price or everyday market value for the item you are bidding on, and having a clear picture of the items condition. There's nothing worse than getting home and finding that the thing you bought needs major repairs and that you could have bought it cheaper new. Knowledge is a must.

The second factor to getting a great deal is being in the right place at the right time, in many cases things go so cheap at auction simply because there isn't any willing buyers. This often happens at business liquidations, where the business owners boat is also being sold off at the auction of the shoe making factory, the boat may not have as many bidders as it would at a dedicated boat auction.

Right place, right time phenomenon can also occur at online auctions when the sale is ending in the middle of the night. Unfortunately willing bidders may not be there at that time, but you can be if you want a bargain.
