A visit to New York City would be wasted if you do not at least experience the best cuisine the city has to offer. A bit of a reminder, all of these restaurants are always full, and reservation usually needs to be weeks in advance in order to get a table. The reward however, is a gastronomic experience fit for royalty . If money is no question, and you're ready to spend as much as you can just to experience the best cuisine New York has to offer, then be sure to visit these famous NYC restaurants
1. Masa is a Japanese restaurant that is unforgiving when it comes to your wallet. Known as one of the most expensive restaurants in the world, it sure deserves its reputation for expensiveness as Masa serves only the best and choicest sushi known to mankind. Thirsting for some sake? They have it here too, but it'll burn more holes in you than you have pockets. Dinner per person: $400-$600.
2. Daniel Boulud is a wonderful person and a world-renown chef, but don't expect him to bestow his Midas-touched cooking to you for pennies and a song. His French cuisine has been described as "incomparable" and as French as any French cuisine can get, so expect to eat food here that tastes like nothing you've ever tasted anywhere - otherwise, it won't be "incomparable" anymore. Daniel's "bargain" offering (three courses and three wine pairings) is priced at $110. But you have to catch it on Mondays to Thursdays 5:30 to 6:00 pm.
3. GILT is fittingly named for the guilt most people will feel eating at this luxurious restaurant. Serving American cuisine, GILT only has seats for 52 people. GILT boasts of an enormous wine list (2,100 bottles of wine to be exact) that is known as one of the best vintage wine list in the country. Dinner per person: $120-$150
4. Le Bernardin is another one of the famous NYC restaurants owned by a French chef. A French restaurant that will wow you and make you wish you were French, Le Bernardin is known for its seafood and wine. Le Bernardin also enforces a dress code: business-casual. If you're in the mood for dim lights and smart attire, Le Bernardin is where you need to be at. Dinner per person: $115-$227.
5. If you're looking for a piece of Chef Thomas Keller's French Laundry cuisine, you're in a bit of luck. Chef Keller has also opened Per Se in New York. This high-end dining establishment is located on the 4th floor of Time Warner Complex and is known for its exotic desserts and miniature ice cream. Price range: $50 and over.
6. Another member of famous NYC restaurants has got to be Jean Georges, located at 1 Central Park West.
