Charlie Sheen. Sheen is no stranger to controversy; in past years he has been named as one of the clients of infamous celebrity madam Heidi Fleiss, divorced Denise Richards amid allegations of drug abuse and threats of domestic violence and allegedly assaulted his then-wife Brooke Mueller. But 2011 was a flagship for him in the worst way as he was fired from his hit shop Two and a Half Men (for which he was being paid $1.2 million an episode) amid a falling out with the show's creator Chuck Lorre and reports of wild partying with porn stars. But his controversial image did not seem to hinder Sheen's popularity since his live tour My Violent Torpedo of Truth is playing to sold-out stadiums.

Lindsay Lohan. In 2011, she was constantly in the entertainment news, since every week seemingly brought a new piece of controversy about her, ranging from being put under house arrest for the theft of a necklace from a jewelry store to regular bouts in rehab. Currently LiLo is stirring up controversy once again by suing rapper Pitbull for name dropping her in lyrics that have purportedly caused her irreparable harm and doing a disturbing photo shoot with photographer Tyler Shields.

Arnold Schwarzenneger. After stepping down as Governor of California, Arnold found himself the center of controversy in 2011 as it was revealed that he had a love child with a former maid of his household, Mildred Baena, fourteen years earlier, which resulted in his breakup from his wife Maria Shriver. After the news broke out, his former co-star, actress Bridgette Nielsen also admitted that they had an affair while he was already involved with Shriver. Despite the controversy, he is currently set to film his comeback film, Last Stand, in New Mexico. Only time will tell if the controversy will hurt or help the film s box office prospects.

Mel Gibson. The star of the Mad Max and Lethal Weapon movies hit the headlines in 2010 due to allegations of domestic abuse filed by his ex-girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva, with whom he had a daughter, Lucia, resulting in her filing a restraining order against him and the L.A. County Sheriff s Department initiating a domestic violence investigation. Things heated up when a profanity-laced phone call he allegedly made to Grigorieva was leaked to the media and the William Morris talent agency, which represented Gibson, dumped him as a client. Gibson later pleaded no contest to a battery charge in March 2011, and has recently been trying to revive his career. However, the entertainment news press recently reported that Grigorieva has been trying to get a big cash sum from Gibson, in addition to the custody settlement she is seeking for their daughter, for traumatizing her son Alexander who was fathered by actor Timothy Dalton.
