Camp Builds New Bath House

A local children's camp recently built new bathroom facilities thanks to the kind donations of their long time supporters and friends of the camp; many of whom were previous members of the camp as children. The camp is used throughout the entire year for children's retreats and similar events that involve the community. The camp holds two sleeping cabins and two separate bathhouses. The new bathhouses are each home to eight showers and an extended dressing room area. In addition there are eight sinks lining one wall encompassed by single piece bath countertops. The countertops were specially ordered and installed by a friend of the camp. A former camper who now works as an architect at a large company drew up the bathhouse design.

The kids all looked forward to coming back to the camp this year to see the new facilities, and to use them for the first time. A ceremony was held to honor those who had donated proceeds to help build the new facilities, and the local media even came to take pictures to run an editorial in the weekly newspaper. The campers were all welcomed in the bathhouse with buckets of toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap as well as other toiletries lined along the newly installed bath countertops. Many people donated new items to the bathhouses such as new towels and tissue, as well as new shower curtains that completed the bathhouse. The campers were all very thrilled with the new facilities, and were excited for their first week of camp to start, as their old facilities was less than desirable, and even had one area where the countertop was missing.

Since the camp installed the new bathhouses, the children have enjoyed the new showers, dressing rooms and bath countertops made just for them. Another local camp has come over and toured the new facilities and is making progress towards raising the funds to build their own facilities that will be similar to the ones that they had designed. As a favor to the neighboring camp, the bathroom countertops will be installed for free from the same donor that did the word for the other camp. The kids at the new camp have all gotten into the spirit of fundraising, and now both camps have joined together for the first time to make the new bathhouse a reality, and they have even set a goal as to when they would like to begin the project. The annual camp competitions will be more fun for everyone when they are all enjoying new facilities. Summer fun just grew even greater with the addition of the new bathhouses and bathroom countertops. Campers look forward to coming back every year.
