The cleaners that you use should therefore be gentle, non-acidic based cleaners that won't damage the surface of the countertop. Most countertops come with sealant to seal and protect it from being susceptible to water damage. The most inexpensive option that one can use as a sealant is nothing more than simple car wax. Car wax can be used weekly other than the yearly application of sealant dictates to keep your granite countertops as shiny as when they were new.

Granite is expensive for various reasons. Whether the stone comes from Brazil or India, it is subject to the same grading system that pushes prices up. Demand is another factor that comes into play when it comes to prices, the harder it becomes to find a particular coloured or patterned stone the higher the price.
