Granite has a warm aesthetic feel to it and is often preferred as a material to use in kitchen countertops as well as bathroom countertops. Granite may look good but it comes at a price that most ordinary people can not afford. Bu you don't have to be extra-odinary or rich to have your kitchen designed to look and feel the way that you want it to be. There are other alternatives that can be incorporated in a good kitchen design whether it's a kitchen made from scratch or it's a kitchen remodelling project. Ceramic tiles are commonly placed in most kitchen areas but often not considered good material to use on countertops as they chip and crack quite easily.

A harder surface is often preferred by most people when designing a kitchen and will still use granite on their countertops but at prices that granite is sold, most people cannot afford to put granite countertops in their ceilings. Granite tile design can give the same visual appeal as having real granite.

Designing the backsplash

Most people however incorporate ceramic tiles in the backsplash. The backsplash area is can be made to contrast or compliment the whole kitchen design. As most designers know, you need to create a complete picture with all the elements of a functional kitchen in play. The floor, the cabinets and the kitchen countertop should complement each other.

Versatility of Ceramic tiles

Ceramic tiles are often used in the building of kitchen and bathroom countertop because they are not only cheaper than other alternatives but are available in a varying colour, shapes as well as pattern designs. Designs differ from simple country flair to upscale patterns that can be incorporated in any kitchen design.
