1. The wood will need to acclimate.

The wood must acclimate to the environment of your room. It will undergo changes in moisture content and temperature. After the adequate amount of time has passed, the wood will be ready to be installed.

2. You will need to clear the room first.

They often end up damaging mirrors, paintings, shelves and other items left in the room. The experienced flooring installer will recognize the danger to your personal items and will require that you remove them before he begins to work.

3. The room climate should be normal.

When you are setting up jobs with hardwood floor companies, one of the decisions you make is whether to get factory finished wood or site finished wood floors. The factory finished wood flooring comes prefinished. After it is put into place, it is ready and no further finishing is necessary.

If you choose site finished wood, the installers will have to put on the finish when they do the installation. If this is the case, you will have to protect the floor for about 7 days before you put any heavy furniture on it. After that, you can move your things back in and enjoy your new, beautiful floor.
