Plan your study time. designate a particular time and allot a certain number of hours every day for studying and stick to this schedule. Even if you don't have homework or any projects or papers due soon, it is best to go through your notes or do some advanced reading every night or during your spare time. Try not to do too much studying each day or night. You may be overwhelmed by all the information and quickly forget what you just studied.

For the student studying the pharmaceutical sciences, various study methods and techniques may be helpful. Those taking up pharmacy have to deal with biology, chemistry, and other scientific courses wherein heaps of scientific names, chemical structures, mathematical formulas, and other information have to be remembered. The kind of study method a student chooses to use will depend on the subject he is studying, his particular learning style, the instruction method used, and the type of exams he is expecting.
Use Acronyms. Acronyms will help you remember things that need not be learned in any specific order. For example, the acronym HOMES stands for the 5 Great Lakes: Huron, Ontario, Michigan, Erie, and Superior.
Use Acronymic Sentences. This is a trick for remembering things that need to be memorized in a particular order. Write down each item that needs to be learned. Next, underline the first letter of each word. Now, write a sentence using words that have the same first letters. For example: Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune are the planets in order. An acronymic sentence for this list could be: My Very Eager Mother Just Served Us Noodles.
Use Flashcards. These are very effective tools for remembering facts and formulas. Make flashcards as you study and go through them during your spare time. Use both sides of each card. If, for example, you are studying vocabulary, write the word on one side and the definition on the other.
Learn the Loci Method. This method is favored by kinesthetic learners. With this technique, you imagine yourself in a familiar place and then you associate the things you have to remember with items in that location. For example, if you have to remember the members of the British royal family, you can imagine yourself walking through your living room and seeing Prince Charles sitting on the couch, Prince Philip watching TV, and Queen Elizabeth dusting the coffee table.
Find help online. The Internet is a treasure trove of supplemental material for students of pharmaceutical education. Make use of notes, presentations, articles, animations, and even software available to help you with your studies.
