Camping on nearby lakes or rivers is also one of the best places to go camping on. Fishing and boating are most favorable in this type of camping set up. This lets campers relax and enjoy the beauty of nature. Campers usually fish using rods, reels, lines and hooks. Insects and nightcrawlers, smaller fishes, as well as worms are the most common types of bait, artificial or plastic baits are also available for those who want it easier; all these are available commercially.

Those who go on RV camping can store raw meat in the freezer, while others can place them in a container with some ice to keep them fresh. Barbecues and smores are a big part of cookouts.

Campfire storytelling is one of the most basic activities done during summer camp. Kids can gather round a campfire and take turns in sharing their scary story. The popular flashlight under the chin does add some thrill to the scary story that is being told.
