Prophecies of Mass Destruction

I first heard the prophecy that 3/4 of the world will be destroyed, back in 1967. I was on semester break from Amherst College and a friend at Harvard introduced me to a mentor of his. The mentor and I talked for an hour. He perceived that I was prone to deep thinking and pulled out a prophecy received by a washerwoman he knew who was also psychic. The prophecy stated that the world was preparing for a "quickening, of the vibratory rate, a type of transformation. For some people that would be really great, but for 3/4 of humanity it wouldn't be so great. These people would not make the cut off and their souls would be shipped off to reincarnate on other planets.

I subsequently read a similar prophecy in the teachings of an eastern mystic Meher Baba. Baba taught that the Earth is linked to two other planets. On one planet mankind functions with 1/4 heart and 3/4 brain. On the other planet man functions with all brain and no heart. According to Baba many intellectual giants from these other planets have migrated to the Earth because of the special spiritual nature of this age. However, after the period of quickening, their souls will be sent off once more to live on these other planets.

I also heard rumors that the third letter of Fatima predicted that 3/4 of the world will be destroyed, but its release to the publicwas squelched by the late Pope John Paul II. Similar prophecies are found in the Jewish religion. The Jewish religion teaches that a great number of souls have been striving to be born on the planet because this is the era of the Messianic redemption. In fact, according to Jewish mystical teaching, every soul that was created at the beginning of the creation must take birth before the establishment of the Messianic Kingdom. Once the redemption takes place and life goes on, presumably, the population will thin out because life won't be so exciting.

How exactly will this population weeding take place? This is not specified in all the prophecies. Will it be war? Will it be natural disaster? Will it be a man made phenomenon such as global warming? Will it be the
decreased desire in many people to have children or perhaps an enforced ban on procreation? Some but not all of the prophecies present details.

What is more relevant is what life will be like for the survivors. Reading through texts that teach techniques for adapting to the "new era," or "new paradigms of living," I almost uniformly find teachings about natural living, eating natural products, retuning with nature and connecting with the Universe.
