The serpent has in Chinese history is known as the Chinese zodiac snake. It is a member of the family of twelve other similar animal related signs. These all tie into the Chinese calender which they are based upon.
It is the sixth sign in the animal formation following the dragon years and has a time ruling between nine and eleven in the morning hours. It has a direction toward the south and southeast and its motto is "I Think".
The spring is the time of the year the snake sign is at its peak and its strongest month is the month of May. The most common element of this sign is fire and its peak lunar are May fifth through the month, until June the fifth. The colors that accompany this sign are ice blue and red. Compared to the Western signs, its counterpart would be the Taurus, which represents the bull.
With a polarity of Yin, several countries are placed in sync with it. Some of these countries are Mongolia, Lithuania, Saudi Arabia, Trinidad, Tobago, Latvia and Estonia. As with all the other signs, it is also pared with five elements. Wood, Water, Fire, Earth, and Metal are all apart of a five year cycle that is based off a twelve year calender.
These elemental forms break down the animal into more refined categories. People with the serpent as a sign often share certain personality traits. They are also known to be very attractive but not outwardly emotional. Some more traits include being deep thinkers and just like the snake itself, the individuals are considered to be wise, graceful, creative, sensual, calm, strong, clever, shrewd, cautious, and even prudent.
Some bad traits the Chinese zodiac snake have are; being in a constant state isolation, being a bad communicator, becoming very possessive, self-doubting, distrustful, vain, vicious, suffocating and cold in nature. They are also known to plot and scheme their way through things to their advantage.
NOTE: The Chinese Zodiac Astrology is the most well known of all Chinese Astrology system.
