But as an email marketer or business owner, you'd want to be able to get through the spam filter so you could "talk" to your customer. You would hate to be marked as a spammer and just waste all the efforts and money you have put into completing your email.

Since first impressions linger, you should impress your new subscriber with a welcome message that clearly, precisely, yet briefly introduces who you are as a company and what you offer. Your tone should be positive and should be believable. It takes time to get customers to trust in you but once they do - you'd reap the benefits of their purchases and referrals.

Having sign-up options on your homepage could help you when you start delivering your marketing materials. If your customer recognizes you as a company in the "From" section of the email, and if the subject is enticing enough - you are safe from being thrown into the bulk email pit or spam box.

Once you get the permission and pique the interest of the customer , you have a shot at earning your potential customer's trust. If you give him what he expects from you and bring to his email relevant information he can use, you have a huge chance of landing on a sale and even a repeat purchase soon.
