Amnesty International, the charity organisation, consists of a collection of individuals, some of the very best philanthropists, who stoutly think that everybody should have civil rights and battle on behalf of individuals who do not.

The organisation commenced thanks to the campaign, Appeal for Amnesty, founded by Peter Benenson after being motivated upon hearing of 2 Portuguese college students thrown in jail for purely toasting liberty. As a result of the campaign, Amnesty International was set up. The charity campaigns on behalf of people around the world who have been denied even the most simplest of human rights, not considering of the offences alleged against them. The charity also campaigns to bring to a close the death penalty and is in favor of the universal adoption of the human rights declaration.

There are a few individuals throughout the world without the luxury of being able to make alternatives or speak their mind and Amnesty International aids these individuals by fighting on their behalf for their rights. The organisation is a salvation for individuals to cling to who have been detained without a trial or sentencing and who are persistently under the peril of physical harm. The charity also campaigns against violence in the direction of children and women. It is one of the key and most important organisations that exist today and set up with the belief that if enough individuals act collectively, the world will finally turn out to be a much enhanced place.

Those who once feared vengeance has somone in their corner. It defends the weak and those who are far less fortunate, its sole intention is to bring justice and bestow men and women the respect they deserve.

The organisation is campaigning to make the world a much better place for more than half of Nairobis population who live in slums. These individuals through no fault of their own live in informal settlements with little or no access to health care, toilets or even unsoiled water. Malaysian refugees who have been arrested and incarcerated along with denied the capability to work have the help of the organisation. Fighting for the Serbians to keep on in the homes after many of people lost their residences to make way for construction programmes. Without the charity organisation the plights of these and more might not have been brought to the notice of the world.
