The first time I ever saw a portable propane heater was at my brother in law's house about a year ago. Actually, it was in his garage. It was Thanksgiving and it was cold out. They had a house full of friends over and so people started overflowing into the garage. The garage was a two car and like most, it was not insulated. He had a lot of nice stuff and plenty of chairs so it was a good place to hang out. Except, it was freezing cold. After a few complaints about how cold the garage was, he decided to start up his portable propane heater. If started right up and immediately began heating up the garage.
Within minutes the garage was toasty warm and we were all smiling. I was impressed. Since then I have been a fan of propane heaters.
In this article we are going to provide a few pointers for people who are interested in buying a portable propane. First let's talk about where you might use one of these heaters. Basically, anywhere outside and or with good ventilation. They are great for campers, RV's, hunting, fishing, ice fishing, workshops, garages, cabins, camp sites, hunting, boating, you name it.
Some of the top brands are Enerco, Mr. Heater, DynaGlo and Protemp. You can get buy brands at Sears, Northern Tool, Grainger Industrial Supply and others.
Most of these heaters are built to heat up a 200 square foot area. They produce 4,000 to 9,000 BTUs. A single cylinder may last you three to six hours with a 1 pound cylinder. Most portable propanes weigh in at about eleven pounds. The light weight makes them genuinely portable.
Propane is not as expensive as compared to coal and or fireplaces. It burns clean and so it costs fifteen percent less than other options. A benefit of these heaters is that they do not need a power supply. You do not need to plug them into a wall socket. They are truly go-any-were-portable.
last month we went on a camp out with the kids. I'm the one who gets up early in the morning and starts making a big breakfast for the kids. Eggs, bacon, pancakes, the works. I start at 5:30 a.m. It's cold and dark out. I'm shivering as I begin getting things ready for breakfast. Then I remember the heater. I pull it out, set it up and turn it on. Wow, what a difference, the whole area warmed right up. It felt great, nice and toasty. I was then able to finish cooking and serving the breakfast in total comfort, I was not cold at all. I'm convinced, I'll never do outdoor events without a portable propane heater.
In summary, these heaters really work. They will keep you warm when it's cold out. They are light weight and low cost, to operate and or purchase. They are light so you can take them anywhere and you do not need a power supply. What's not to like? Go down to Home Depot and get yourself a Mr. Heater, before your next outdoor adventure.
