This particular monitor is just a hand-me-down. The fact that it is pre-owned and still works perfectly, that alone is a best feature. My sister-in-law swears by how great this monitor is and so I excitedly installed it right away when I got home. Setting up was so easy. Manual is there to guide me on my installation and the directions are so easy to understand.
Everything was set in less than twenty minutes.
At first I thought the monitor is not working because it was so quite. I then set the volume a bit higher and still there was silence. I doubted the product that time. Turned out the monitor is really like that, but it is working because I heard my baby's movement after a while. The monitor is sensitive to baby's sounds (breathing, cries and movements) and it filters that sounds that are not supposed to be there (squeaking door and the sound of the fan among others). The sound it gives is so precise that I know the movements of the baby even if I am not really there in his room. Like for example, I can hear if he is settling to go to sleep, I know if he is already in deep sleep, and I know if he's about to wake up. A lot of times it saves us from a possible loud cry because I can rush up to his room immediately before he realize that he's alone there (my baby does not want waking up alone, he has to see me first thing he opens his eyes).
The package has two parent units so I assigned one in my bedroom while the other one is portable and is with me everywhere I go in the house. It is battery operated, so it's wireless and easy to carry along. There is no problem with signal because I can go as far as the back yard and it's still perfect. It also has a light monitoring function that also detects the baby's movements. That design is useful every time I have to vacuum clean the living room. It's impossible to hear the monitor no matter how clear it is because the sound of the vacuum win over the sound of the monitor, so I watch out for the lights that signal the baby movements. The flashing lights depend on how soft or loud the movement and sounds are. There are few times I heard static, though it won't last that long. I do not know what's causing it, but since it will be just for a short six seconds or so, so it does not bother me that much at all. I also discovered that even if it is set in middle volume, the sound it gives is still excellent and loud enough so there is no need to set the volume at its highest. Setting it at its highest volume sometimes gives out a horrible sound so do not attempt to set it there for it has no use putting it in the highest anyways.
The baby unit has a soft night lamp that shuts off automatically after fifteen minutes. My baby does not settle in dark room and needs a bit of a light as he falls asleep so this feature is another useful design for us. And the automatic shut off saves me time to go to the baby room to turn it off.
All together, this product is of superb quality and excellent features, that is why I love it so much. I am thankful to my sister-in-law who handed this down to me. I strongly recommend this product to expectant mothers out there. No worries, this product is worth your every penny
