• Start at least 1 month before your visa expires

• Ask an Indian (best: Kannada-speaking) friend for company

• First, deliver a detailed internship confirmation from your company
(with company heading) at the Police Commissioner Office, 1, Infantry
Road, opening hours: 10-?, extensive lunch break around 2! It's less
crowded, when you come early.

• Once, they accepted this letter. You will get a list of all required
documents.

• Fill in all the forms and make 1 or 3 copies (everything has to be
delivered in duplicate or quadruplicate)

• 6 passport photographs are necessary (1 for your local police station)
• Police Report:
o 1 passport photograph,
o a letter from the Commissioner,
o 2 copies of your passport and visa page are necessary to get the
police report from your local police office (not from the
Commissioner). It can take several days to get the signature. Pay
attention, that they mention the same reason for entry as stated in
your passport.

• Financial Guarantee:

o Buy a 20 Rs. stamp paper (for example at Mysore State Bank (that's
where you also have to transfer the money and copy this voucher 2
times), you can get it between 10.45 and 1.30 on weekdays or 10.45 –
12.30 on Saturdays, better: go there really early, the queue is
looong!)

o Ask an Indian citizen (with passport!) to guarantee for you and
visit a notary with him (there is a court on MG Road, lots of notaries
are tingling around, if Brigade Road is in front of you, turn left,
some hundred meters straight, on the right side, a white historical
building next to a red one). Cost: approx Rs.350

• Bribe: the normal amount the officer gets is Rs.500, as he told me. ;)
