Google ushered in a new era in search when it introduced its Google universal search model. It transformed the contents of search results and how those results are displayed. Each of these services can be treated as individual or independent search engines. Google images is a search engine for pictures, Google videos is a search engine for videos, and so on and so forth.

What Google universal search does is accumulate and organize all the kinds of information contained in the world wide web, determine which of these information are the most relevant and deliver them to users. Google makes use of the most complex algorithms for it to be able to deliver the best match and results to a user's search query. In the past, these results only contain text based results and links to sources on the web. But with the introduction of universal search, the results pages also include several forms of media such as pictures and videos. This makes search all the while a lot more engaging and exciting not only for end users but for search engine marketers as well.
