They ate food straight from their surroundings. No artificial flavorings, no artificial colorings and no artificial preservatives were added. They didn't know what canned foods mean. They didn't know how instant food looked like. They just ate food as it is. If you want to make healthy choices you must start by eating right. Here are some tips on how to eat healthy.
1. Eat a lot of fruits and vegetables. Fruits and vegetables are rich in vitamins and minerals that are important for the different body processes. They are needed by the body to fight infection. They boost the body's immune system. Many people do not eat vegetables because they see them as bland. They find them boring. You can make fruits and vegetables more exciting by preparing them in creative ways. For example, if you do not like the idea of eating carrots, you can eat carrot cake. It will look more appealing than eating it raw or boiled.
2. Avoid eating junk foods or packed chips. They are rich in sodium that is bad for your kidneys. Too much sodium can also raise your blood pressure. Instead of eating chips during snack time, choose healthier alternatives like cereals or corn flakes. You can eat them as is or you can even make them healthier by adding milk.
3. Avoid having too much soda. Soda normally has acids that are not good for your digestive system. They can induce hyperacidity or worse, they can cause ulcers. Instead of having soda, drink fruit juices. There are so many juicers in the market now that you cannot say that juices are difficult to make. You can also have shakes. You can mix a variety of fruits and vegetables to make shakes that will look appealing even to kids.
4. Choose fish instead of meat. Fish has less fat than pork or beef. If you must eat meat, choose the lean parts. Avoid the fats. And grill them if you like. When you fry you add more fats.
Having a healthy diet is good but it is not enough. You also have to have some form of exercise. Do not think of those boring exercise routines in the gym. You can have fun-filled exercise activities like street dancing, jogging with your friends or swimming with your family. They will not only make you healthy but these activities will also improve your relationship with others.
