The wind is a good source of renewable energy that is transformed from solar energy. The cost of wind energy has decreased over the past decade, however, a pricier initial investment is needed to cover the cost of machinery, site preparation and its installation. Considering the life cycle of wind power plants, it can be concluded that they are more cost-effective in the end since there is no need to purchase fuel for it and there are minimal expenses in terms of their operation. There are other further advantages in favor of wind power versus fossil fuels since wind power can easily be generated in farms and ranches.

Wind turbines that produce wind energy are like propeller blades on an aircraft, turn moving air to power an electric generator that in turn produces electric current. Current wind turbines have either horizontal-axis or vertical axis. The horizontal axis types are used to pump water like the traditional windmills found in farms. Wind turbines come in different sizes and therefore produce varying power ratings. The major concern in using wind power is its inability to be stored and to be harnessed in order to meet the instances when electrical power is needed. Furthermore, the wind plants are usually located far from the places where electricity is most needed (like in cities). In cases like these, it may be vital to have wind power be set up with energy-generation contracts on a long-term basis to further gain market acceptance of this alternative source of energy. Advantages can be gained this way in terms of minimal pricing for operational costs. Wind power can always be used and reused and will not produce any environmental risks and eventually save a tremendous amount of electricity.
