If one lives in the western world there are good chances that they have never ventured far outside. Even among those who are better read, farther traveled and supposedly higher educated there is a drift that exists. Between the latitude and longitude of the globe there is a ying yang of cultural differences that even a yin could never ignore.
Religion in general has long associated the term of 'many colors' to meaning in life. Aside from the Chinese, Christianity has long associated color with spirituality, belief and faithfulness. Historically, royalty from all over the world have long used the impression of color to set themselves apart from their kingdoms.
Everywhere one turns, color has been used as a symbolism for every element of life. Understanding the elements that colors are associated with are critical to truly learning more about the idea behind yin and yang. Some say Yin is black and Yang is white. The former is female and the latter is male.
But what about all of the colors in between? Surely there is room for all of the hues and tones of the rainbow to be present within the marriage of black and white. Is the lesson here merely about polar opposites or is it one of expression? Even more thought provoking, we must ask ourselves as humans when we will stop accepting the division of polar opposites as fact and begin the process of marrying the two into harmony.
Eventually, even those who pursue money at a most yang level will want to have more yin in their lives. As goes the opposite reality. The constant struggle for balance is part of the human experience. It's not an exact science and it is not a manic art. Simply put, it's just the way it is.
It is important for people who live in the Western world to understand that many of their own cultural influences will create an atmosphere than could inhibit prosperity. In Chinese philosophy the Dragon is fortuitous. Yet in the western world the symbol of a dragon in folklore and literature is a symbol associated more with conflict and pain than with prosperity and gain.
The ying yang of money isn't about casting a magic spell or simply placing twenty-five stalks of bamboo in the western corner of one's room. It's about understanding that the 'what is' can never be changed and knowing that the 'what if' must be present at all times in order for growth to occur.
