Known in China as the Tung Shu, it is called the Tong Sing by the Cantonese speaking people in Hong Kong. The Tong Sing covers a wide variety of subjects, providing information on every topic from palmistry, geomancy, fortune telling, herbal medicine and even includes a pregnancy chart. It includes a guide on moral codes, how to operate a small business successfully, physiognomy information, poetry and how to make charms or talismans.

The first version of the Chinese almanac was rather simplified, but over time it has grown into a very comprehensive guide to life. The earliest recorded current version of the Tong Sing was compiled in the Qing dynasty, over two hundred years ago and has been in print for that long.

It is a forecast for the year ahead which even included Feng Shui tips and advice for the average user. Feng Shui is known as the Chinese art of placement and has been relied upon in Chinese homes to create harmony and balance for many centuries. This intriguing discipline is now becoming widely accepted in the Western world.

The almanac contains a forecast for your personal fortune according to your Chinese zodiac for the coming year. It will also have available the listed times for sunrise and sunset for all twenty four sub seasons for the coming solar year. You can also check your auspicious dates which are geared to coincide with specific activities.

Chinese families have planned their daily lives around the Tong Sing for centuries, ensuring that activities are planned for specified auspicious days. To this day, farmers will plan the seeding of crops and the harvesting of those crops according to the information contained in the almanac.

It even includes astrological charts based on the Chinese zodiac and give a monthly forecast of trends to be expected for the coming year. There is information on the Chinese art of face reading and personality interpretation. People can also access the so called Yin Yang or lunar and solar calendar. There are also poems and information forecasting the eclipses for the year ahead.
