Although resin is a popular type of patio furniture, most people avoid buying it because most of the pieces look cheap. This type, however, can be made to look like furniture made from wood, metal or other types of material.

4. Wicker

Wicker patio chairs and other furniture are made of rattan, the core of a bamboo-like plant. Wicker is actually the process of weaving this material. A basic set for two persons costs about $250. Cheap wicker furniture sets use low-grade metal frames which easily rust and deform, with the wicker being the seats and backs.

Wicker furniture is considered environment-friendly because rattan is easily replenished. Rattan patio furniture is durable because of the interlocking way it is woven.
