One of the most winning assets of an organization is its human resource. This is composed of the people who work for the company to help it reach its goals and objectives. Each individual has his own key competencies and that guarantees he will work effectively in these fields. Similarly, companies have their own; they belong and specialize in a particular industry. They provide products and services to a certain niche. They address problems by creating solutions; all of this is done with the help of its human resource.

The aforementioned statements are exactly the reasons why companies need a recruitment process. There must be a match between the needs of the organization and the skills and experience of its members.

Recruiting is a way of catching the attention of aspiring individuals to become a part of an organization. It involves screening and selecting individuals that meet company requirements; the people who are qualified for a job gain membership to an organization through the process of recruiting.

Companies and organizations have different means of employing the process. Medium-scale and large-size firms retain a Human Resource Department that is responsible for recruiting and hiring competent individuals. The smaller organizations opt to outsource some of the process or the whole of it from recruitment agencies.

The procedure of recruitment can be summarized as follows: advertising, screening and selecting candidates.

Advertising or publicizing is the important initial step in the process. This is done in order for individuals to be made aware of a job vacancy. Organizations post job titles and job descriptions in community bulletin boards or classified ads. The advent of online tools also made it easier for both employers and employees to find people and jobs respectively. Several advertisement websites are utilized to find and offer jobs.

The second procedure of recruitment is screening. Screening is done in order to narrow down the potential candidates of a job or organization. As mentioned, companies have their specializations and needs. The people who applied for the position may not always be fit with the needs of the organization; therefore, they are taken off of the list. Delimiting options is entirely necessary to save the resources of the company.

Selecting is the next step in the process of recruitment. This is also conducted by the Human Resource Department of the organization. There are methods used in selection. The most common are employment examinations and interviews. Employment examinations test the intelligence, aptitude and work behavior of every potential candidate. Every company knows the importance of these examinations as they can determine whether an individual is qualified or not; they can also tell how risky it is to employ a candidate.

Interviews are usually done after examinations; their purpose is to get to know the candidates that vie for the position. The candidates will be asked on what their contributions might be and how their strengths can be the strengths of the organization, and many more.

It must be known that every individual who wishes to be part of an organization must go through the process of recruiting.
