1. Choose first where to install the blinds. You have two options: to install it outside the window or the interior window casing. 3. Measure the length of the blinds exactly. If you want the window blinds to cover the casing then it would be fine if it is longer than the window as long as it wouldn't touch the floor. 4. Imagine what your blinds would look like after installing it. Try to hang a string or curtain at the top and let it hang straight. Check if there are other stuff in the way when it is left hanging; same would happen if you install the blinds. If there is a tendency for the blind to just drip over, adjust the measurements of your blinds appropriately. You may want to cut it to fit the window.

5. To have a more detailed and assured measurements, get a piece of paper and pencil and try to draft out your measurements.
