On the other hand, houses which receive light later on in the day, say sunset, do not need much artificial warmth. For this, choose curtains and blinds with colors which are not reddish in hue.

Blinds also create an illusion for your room, so make sure you pick one that enhances your room's features. Vertical blinds, curtains and all other dense window treatments help make a low ceiling appear higher. Roman blinds and Venetian blinds meanwhile, create a more relaxed and comfortable look.

Experts in interior design say window décor should be given as much attention as all other pieces of furniture in your home. Let your imagination run wild and give your place a splash of color. There are no rules in letting light shine in to your home through your own windows.
