With all the various types and prices of window blinds, you might have a hard time choosing which one to get for your home. Each type of window blind differs in quality and price, so it is necessary that you consider all the factors before you start purchasing. If you want an general idea of the different blinds that are available, read on.
Window Blinds That Should Be Taken Into Account
- Venetian blinds – also known as horizontal slat blinds, these covers just about any quality that a blind should have. This kind of blind is divided into four categories – composite blinds, wood blinds, PVC blinds and Roman blinds.
- Mini blinds – these kinds of blinds are created out of aluminum that comes in different gauges. The gauge is equal to thickness, which means that the higher the gauge, the better the quality. It also means that the slat is thicker and more durable. Years ago, this kind of window blind was the most popular among homeowners and they still are thus far, particularly for commercial buildings. Mini blinds also have different colors.
- Composite blinds – these blinds are made from combination of plastic, glue and wood by-products. This kind of blind is relatively new since the material used here was discovered just recently. The slat used for such blinds has a smooth poly-coated surface. However, if you choose to have composite blinds in your home, you will have a limited color choice. White is the most common color choice for composite blinds. Fortunately, there are now a few stain colors and wood tones available. One great thing about owning composite blinds is that they are very reasonably priced. Plus, they are water resistant, UV resistant, easy to clean, have low probabilities of warping as opposed to wood and are very durable. On the other hand, composite slats are heavy, so they are primarily used for large windows instead.
- Wood blinds – these are obviously blinds that are made out of wood. Oriental woods are the usual material used for such blinds. You may want to have a wood blind if you have wooden cabinets or other wooden furniture that you want to go with your blinds. The only problem though is that wood blinds may be a bit expensive compared to other blinds.
- Vertical blinds – this kind of window blind is conceivably the most popular kind of blind. If you want a solution to your light control problems, then this is the answer to all of your problems. With the help of the vertical blind's light filtering feature, you can either have the sunlight come in your room at full force or you can totally hinder it from coming. You can also choose how much light you want in your room by simply adjusting.
With all these blinds, you can surely find one that will match your room and furniture.
