There is a lot of advantage in using window blinds. And these benefits are not known much known to people. To most of us, the only purpose of window blinds would be is to block the light entering the room. Little do we know that there are other things that window blinds can do for us.

Window blinds are used to cover windows. It is made of several slats of fabric that would overlap each other when they are closed. These slats are usually made of fabric, metal or wood.
The term, window blinds, is used to point to almost every kind of window covering there is. This is a common mistake that people make. It is used in reference to shutters, shades and even the British awnings when it is actually a specific type of window covering. Most people walk into a home improvement shop and say they are looking for window blinds when they are actually looking for window shades or shutters to install on their windows.

There are two generic kinds of window blinds. They may be horizontal or vertical.

Vertical blinds are preferred over horizontal blinds. This is a consensus among more people. The vertical blinds have actually proven to be able to endure strong winds better than their horizontal counterparts.
Also, blinds would definitely collect dust. And especially if it is plastic, the dust and the soot sometimes are difficult to get out. It seeps in the plastic. And this makes the plastic very brittle. Now vertical blinds would have thicker and wider slats than the horizontal ones. And surely they would be less brittle than horizontal blinds, ensuring a longer life.
