1. Eat Five-Six Small Meals Per Day – For burning that fat on your body, the traditional three meals a day just won't do. If we stick to eating three meals a day, the metabolism gets time, between those meals, to slow down. This does not make our body efficient for burning that fat. Simply by spacing our food intake to five or six small meals a day, that is by eating approximately every 2 and a half to 3 hours. This does not mean that you eat like a horse five times a day; it means to have your three meals, but to eat something small and extra in between. The advantage of this is – firstly, it keeps your metabolism going, and second it will allow you to be less hungry during your next meal, in turn making you to desire less food. Since it's often not practical to be able to prepare a mid morning meal, between the regular meals, it can be advisable to eat protein bars which are low in carbohydrates and high in protein.
2. Drink lots of water – the importance of drinking water can't be overlooked. Our body is 70% water, so we should give it what it needs. Water is very essential when dieting or losing weight. Water helps to absorb and properly utilize all the nutrients that we get through our food. It helps to transport the nutrients to our cells and determine how our cells will use them. Also, water helps to eliminate waste by flushing out all the toxins out of our body thereby improving our complexion and at the same time making our skin more elastic. Elasticity of skin means, you can avoid getting stretch marks.
3. Lower Your Carbs – Lowering carbohydrates would result in the body burning fat most of the time. Since our body burns carbohydrates first and then fat, it will have no carbohydrates to burn and begin burning fat immediately. It's best to consume most of your day's intake of carbohydrates with breakfast. This would result in giving your body a jump-start for the day and at the same time providing the much needed energy to get through the day. The Ideal combination would be of carbohydrates and protein.
4. High Protein – Our body burns carbohydrates first, because that is our main source of energy. Once it runs out of carbohydrates it begins to use our fat as fuel. Therefore to keep our metabolism going and the fat burning at an efficient level we must consume a high intake of protein. It basically helps us to retain our muscle and not use it as energy.
5. Cardio Exercise – One of the most important elements to losing weight is to do cardiovascular exercise. For best results, and to start with just invest 20 minutes, 4 times a week. Each week increasing 5 minutes to ultimately reaching to 45 minutes to an hour. The best time to do cardio is when you wake up in the morning before you do eat anything. The reason for this is when you wake up, your glycogen(a molecule which functions as a secondary short term energy storage) stores are low, so the body begins to burn fat quicker than if it first had to burn all the carbohydrates first then start working on your fat.
6. Eating Before Going To Bed – This is absolutely a no-no. While we are sleeping our metabolism slows down. For this reason, it is wise not to eat within three hours before going to bed. The food that we would eat would possibly be stored as fat because the body does not get a chance to burn it off completely. You can go eight hours without giving your body anything to keep it going anyway. So why not avoid eating!!!
