Would you like to relive those old memories of watching footage captured on a 16mm projector? Back in the day 16mm projectors were great and all around use being used to capture everyday life and special occasions to make home movies. As technology advanced over the years, these types of projectors became less popular. 16mm projectors in the 1970s used tubular lamps, sometimes called "Mazda lamps", most often. These lamps were large -- close to 6 inches tall -- and usually about 750 watts. Succeeding these lamps were new, tungsten-halogen lamps which were much more efficient and even became the standard after some time. With Tungsten lamps, you could have just a 250 watt lamp, and it would easily be brighter than a tubular lamp that was 750 watts. As for the reel size, the 16mm projectors can hold anywhere from 2000 feet to large 600 foot reels, which are often used by professionals.

With the invention of the internet and eBay it is a piece of cake to find that cheap, efficient 16m Projector. Before the Internet was initiated in the 1990's, finding 16mm projectors to play your old reels was a hard thing to accomplish. Many would frequent second-hand shops, garage sales and flea markets with the dream of finding a projector, or repairment parts, which was just as difficult. For a time, it was supposed that only the most serious enthusiasts and collectors were interested in this special type of optical entertainment. When the internet arrived, especially eBay, people had a new way to sell their old goods. 16mm projectors that had been sitting in attics for decades suddenly rose to the surface of commerce as a desireable piece of equipment for the new generations. Now 16mm projectors are not only popular collector's items; they're in demand as well for the people who have old home movies still laying around.
