Harry Potter and The Half blood Prince came to the scene on July 16th 2005 as the penultimate of the Harry Potter series. Consisting of seven novels, this novel has been regarded as the most intricate, yet the most appealing of all the parts. It reveals many surprising things that interest the readers.

The most extraordinary of all the revelations include Snape's past and the history of his Dark Lord Voldemort. Voldemort's genuine name has also been disclosed in this segment as Tom Marvolo Riddle. It is also exposed that Voldemort's survival depends upon the existence and protection of Horcruxes.

Voldemort's childhood was shownas the only offspring of a rich Muggle named Tom Riddle Sr. Who married a pureblood witch Merope Gaunt, who died just after childbirth. Voldemort spent his infancy in an orphanage as his father deserted his mother before his birth. He studied at the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardy, where he showed the signs of amazing mastermind and became Prefect and the Head boy altogether.

During his early childhood, he was ignorant of his magical powers and wizard inheritance. However, he was able to move things using his mental powers. He was able to make them drift and travel as per his desire. He used to control animals and other creatures according to his desires. Tom Riddle was also skilled of speaking Parseltongue. He from his early childhood enjoyed afflicting other orphans. His childhood was marked with incidents of wit, punishing, and horrifying fellow orphans.

The most outstanding incidents include hanging a boy's rabbit from the rafters. Another incident resulted in peace stricken children due to horror. He took Dennis Bishop and Amy Benson to a cave where they were very horrified and unable to converse. Voldemort's childhood is marked with stealing other children's objects and hiding them in his closet.

At the age of eleven, Dumbledore was introduced to Tom through Mrs. Cole who talked about Tom's unusual ways. During their first meeting, Dumbledore convinced him to study at Hogwarts, where Tom realised his abilities for the first time. His different nature was quite apparent from the very start when he expresses displeasure towards his own name for being so common.

At Hogwarts, he was placed in Slytherin House referring back to his Salazar Slytherin ancestor. His time at Hogwarts is marked with learning and discovering about himself and about the wizarding world. There he learnt about Horcruxes too from professor Horace Slughorn. He also discovered the continuation of Chambers Of Secrets lying under Hogwarts. There he domesticated the basilisk, which caused a lot of restiveness at the school to the point of its shutting down.

Tom kept on searching details about his father, which he finally got from his mother's family. After learning how his father deserted his mother, he felt strong hatred towards his father. Eventually he killed his father and his grandparents using the killing curse. This was the time when he changed his name from Tom Riddle to Voldemort, a revenge stricken being. He successfully kept covering his crimes. After Hogwarts, he worked at Borgin and Burkes for a short time and then disappeared to reappear as the Dark Lord afterwards.
