Some helpful suggestions in reducing credit card debt and to get your life back on track again

1. Stop your debt from getting any bigger, go to your kitchen drawer and get the scissors out, any cards that you aren't using or are maxed out start cutting them up. That way you won't have the temptation in front of you any more. Leave yourself with one card for emergencies, your gas cards, macy department cards or any other cards that encourage you to get in debt, cut these up also.

2. Start writing down where all your money goes to. Start balancing your check book everyday with whats going out and eventually you can take total control of your spending traffic and direct it as needed. Now you can see where all the unecessary spending is and put a stop to it.

3. Now you know what you spend your money on, you now need to decide what purchases you "need" to live (rent,food,gas, etc) and what purchases are luxuries ( cable, sirius radio, magazine subscriptions, gym membership, etc). Stop paying for these luxuries and use the money to start to systematicly pay off your credit debt.

4. Now you have some history of your spending create yourself a strict budget of what you need to get you through every month using just the "needed items". Whatever you have left at the end of each month use this to pay off your debt

5.Now lets start getting some of this debt down by figuring out which cards to pay off first. The highest interest rate credit cards should be the first to go, if you have a student loan for $15,000 at 5% leave this to a minimum payment and start putting your money down on the $1000 or $3000 maxed out cards at 11% or 24%. Once you have a card paid off use that monthly payment on the next card. Be strict with yourself, don't start spending money again once you see that spare cash you need to use everything to pay of your remaining cards. Keep recycling this system and concentrate on getting each card paid off. As you pay off each card, it gets easier and easier, and if your determined and you stick to your plan you'll see real results which will eventually lead to a debt free life again
